If no applications are received for travel training fellowship, the amount will be utilized for travel grant.

Strabismus & Pediatric Ophthalmological Society of India (SPOSI)

Circular For Election of various posts of Strabismus & Pediatric Ophthalmological Society of India (SPOSI)
The applications on the attached prescribed format are invited for following posts from ratified members of the Society.
The applications on the attached prescribed format by ratified and members not in arrears should be submitted duly proposed and seconded by members of Society not in arrears. Application should reach the to Secretary SSI at the address given below By Speed Post or Registered AD by 28 Nov 2014 (5 pm). No application by email will be accepted. However, Withdrawal can be accepted by email. Last date for withdrawal is 07 Dec 2014. Election, if necessary will be held during annual conference of SPOSI at Pushkar on 14-12-2014. The outcome of Election is subject to acceptance of constitutional amendments by registrar of Societies.

The various posts are as under

Eligibility Criteria for Various Posts are as detailed below:
1. President
  1. Should have been a ratified member of good standing in the Society for a minimum of 10 years.
  2. Must have held an organizational position as an office bearer at least one complete term.
  3. Should have attended five conferences of SPOSI /SSI in preceding 10 years.
  4. Should have published at least 3 papers in the field of Strabismology/Pediatric Ophthalmology in the national or international journals or should have been speaker in at least 3 conferences in the field of Strabismology/Pediatric Ophthalmology
  5. Should have age of 40 years or above
2. President Elect
  1. Should have been a ratified member of good standing in the Society for a minimum of 10 years.
  2. Must have held an organizational position as an office bearer at least one complete term.
  3. Should have attended five conferences of SPOSI /SSI in preceding 10 years.
  4. Should have published at least 3 papers in the field of Strabismology/Pediatric Ophthalmology in the national or international journals or should have been speaker in at least 3 conferences in the field of Strabismology/Pediatric Ophthalmology
  5. Should have age of 40 years or above

Minutes of GBM of SSI Rohtak

Dear Members
This is to inform you that

  1. World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus  has confirmed its participation at annual conference of SSI at Pune
  2. The Executive  has approved Life Time Achievement Award to Prof BS Goel and Prof H.Reddy
  3. The criteria for Dr AK Khurana award for best publication will be put on web shortly
  4. The three constitutions (Original Constitution of SSI, Constitution approved by amendment committee and constitution approved by Executive (including members of amendment committee) have been put on web.
    Suggestions from members are invited till 31 August. All suggestions received by Secretariat will be compiled and will be put before constitutional amendment committee, which will give its recommendentations to executive. The suggested changes will be put before GBM for approval. It is further clarified that constitutional amendment requires two third majorities. It is further clarified no unlimited terms are being given to office bearers.
  5. The minutes of GBM of SSI  at Rohtak are attached, same will be put on web and will be posted  by ordinary post
  6. As per my information  AAPOS & APSPOS  have agreed to hold conference in India in 2016,however  official  decision is still awaited

Nominations for following posts  are invited from ratified members   
A) Office Bearers:

  1. President 
  2. Vice President

B) Members: executive committee (Four members) preferably from various States of India 

IV. Eligibility for Various Offices: 

(i) President & Vice President:

  1. Should have been a member of good standing in the Society (SSI) for a minimum of 10 years.
  2. Must have held an organizational position as an office bearer or Executive Committee at least for one term.
  3. Should have actively participated in the scientific meetings of the Society.
  4. Should have published at least 5 papers in the field of Strabismology/Pediatric Ophthalmology  in the national or international journals
  5. Should have age of 50 Years or above

(ii) Secretary:

  1. Must have been a member of good standing for at least 5 years.
  2. Must have held an organizational position as an office bearer or Executive Committee for at least 1 term.
  3. Should have actively participated in the scientific meeting. of the Society
  4. Should have published at least 3 papers in the field of Strabismology/Pediatric Ophthalmology in the National or International journals.

(iii) Treasurer:

  • Should have 5 years standing as members of the Society

(iV) Joint Secretary

  • Should have 3 years standing as members of the Society

(V)   Editor 

  • Should have 5 years standing as members of the Society. Must have published 5 papers in National /International Journal

Member Executive Committee

  • Should be ratified member of Society

The applications by ratified and members not in arrears should be submitted on a plain paper duly proposed and seconded by a members of Society not in arrears). Application should reach the to Election Commissioner by Speed Post or Registered AD by 20 Nov 2012 (5 pm). Last date for withdrawal is 25 Nov 2012. Election, if necessary will be held during annual conference at Rohtak. The nomination can be sent by email. However hard copy has to be submitted before the elections.

Minutes of GBM of SSI Held at Dahod
Dristi Eye Center on 17/12/2011at 6:00 pm

Twenty nine members attended the GBM. It was chaired by Dr (Prof) Kamlesh
Following agenda items were discussed and decided upon.

  1. Minutes of previous GBM held at Jaipur were approved
    Proposed by Dr. Pradeep Desh Pande
    Seconded by Dr. Mehul Shah
  2. Report of Secretary
    Dr. Subhash Dadeya read out the report; in brief he expressed immense satisfaction over wonderful arrangements made by Dr. Mehul Shah & Dr. Shreya for organizing an excellent conference. He informed that life member has increased to 560. He further informed that SSI website (www.strabismusindia.com) has been made operational and all details are available through the website. He further informed the members that two travel training fellowship /grant are available, those members, who want to avail them, can contact Secretary SSI.  He further informed that a session on quiz has been started to encourage youngsters. The suggestions of Secretary regarding formation of Constitutional Amendment Committee for all matters including Publication of Journal & creation of post of Editor SSI, Membership status of   junior residents was approved by the GBM   . Secretary informed that the next conference will be held at Rohtak (Haryana). The report of Secretary was approved by the GBM

  3. Treasurer Report
    Dr. Renu Grover read out the treasurer’s report, it was informed that income tax return for year 2011-12 has been duly filed. No money has been withdrawn from the FD’S. The expenditure on Postage, publication of journal, office expenditure, fare to guest faculty/office bearers, bank charges & misc charges was approved by the GBM. GBM authorized the Treasurer to deposit the money in Fresh FD for higher interest rates.

  4. Ratification of New Members. All the new members as per list were ratified by the executive.
  5. The GBM raised the life Membership fees to 2100 rupees.
  6. Constitutional amendment Committee as suggested by executive was approved by GBM.
  7. Regarding inclusion of Paed Oph: GBM authorized secretary to seek legal opinion on the issue & opinion of registrar of society & invite suggestions and objections from all the members.  
  8. Journal  for this year  to be published by Secretary as Vice President did not publish the same
  9. GBM also approved the executive proposal to start Best Video award in name of Dr. H. Reddy& Best Paper award for indexed journal in name of Dr AK Khurana & Best free paper award in the name of Dr. Kamlesh.
  10. Proposal for future conferences: Secretary informed the GBM that SSI has received the proposal for holding  future conferences 2013 (Pune) & 2013 (Aligarh) 
  11. Since  no other matter was left, the meeting ended with thanks to the chair

(iii) Treasurer/Joint Secretary:
  • Should have 2 years standing as members of the Society
(iV) Member Executive Committee
  • Should be ratified member of Society
The applications by ratified and members not in arrears of SSI should be submitted on a plain paper duly proposed and seconded by a member of SSI (not in arrears). Application should reach the to Election Commissioner by Speed Post or Registered AD by 28 Nov 2010 (5 pm). Last date for withdrawal is 8 Dec 2010. Election, if necessary will be held during annual conference of SSI at Jaipur.
